Updates Resulting from COVID-19 (Updated 30th April 2021 at 4.30pm)

PERTH EVENTS: (The following is a copy of information emailed to registered teachers)

Originally scheduled for 29th and 30th April 2021 Covid-19 restrictions from the WA Government meant that these events were postponed. The new dates are:

  • Secondary students: Wed 19th May 2021 at Perth Convention Centre
  • Primary students: Thur 20th May 2021 at Perth Convention Centre

You do not need to re-register or contact us. Your registration for the original date is automatically carried over to the new date. It will help our administration if you can indicate that your school has seen this notification by filling out the quick and easy form HERE.

What if your school cannot come to the rescheduled date? It is a mammoth exercise for us to hold the postponed alternative so we genuinelly hope that your school can join us. We respectfully ask that you reconsider any requests for refunds. GRIP is a small organisation and we receive no government funding or assistance. Because the original dates were cancelled by the government with minimal notice we incurred thousands of dollars in costs having our team travel to Perth and pre-paying many of the event expenses which won't be refunded to us. We already know that we will need to pay many of these costs all over again to hold the postponed event, but if we also need to issue refunds to some schools then it may be impossible for our small organisation. Whilst we were able to hold our Perth event last year, we were forced to cancel 60 conferences which put us in a position in which we almost were unable to recover. Premier Mark McGowan indicated (in a media conference on 29th April 2021) that the government would soon announce a financial relief program for organisations who suffered financially from the effects of the recently imposed restrictions. If your school wishes to seek compensation then you may be eligible to apply for this government assistance program, but no details of eligibility or application process have been advised as yet.

Can we discuss this with the GRIP office? Your previous registration is automatically transferred to the new date so you do not need to confirm anything. If the new date clashes with other circumstances for your school we understand you may want to discuss this with us. Our reality is that there is nothing we can do and we will only be able to clarify what's already written on this page. Our staff are away from the office conducting events every day in different cities. Despite this, we are real people and want you to be able to contact us if you need to, so you are welcome to contact our Managing Director, Ronan McGinniss via ronan@gripleadership.com.au

Our 2021 events have been held successfully with an approved Covid-Safe plan, providing an experience that has been very well received by schools.

Should it be necessary to cancel any event we will promptly post the notification on this exact webpage, and we will also email any teacher who has registered for the affected event.
