The Challenges at Our School

Most people choose what is easiest, but leaders should choose what is necessary. This practical session looks at fifty common challenges within schools, and helps students identify the most necessary challenges to address at their own school. A four-part structure will be used to select the challenges that fit best into an action plan for the coming year. Lots of perspectives will be shared through video examples and conversations with other schools.

Morning Tea Optional Session: Tips for Leading Houses

There are specific challenges that come with leading houses and large groups of peers. This short session will give practical tips for creating an experience that is positive for the entire house as well as the student leaders. (This will only go for the first 10-15 minutes of the break so that you can still get some fresh air afterwards.)

The Challenges of a Student Leader

It’s great to be motivated as a leader, but it’s helpful to be prepared for the common challenges that leaders encounter. We will explore practical strategies to navigate these challenges, with a special focus on how to maintain integrity throughout. This topic will address three personal challenges: meeting expectations, getting out of my comfort zone, and increasing capacity.

Electives #1 (choose 1)

Option 1: What Makes a School Event Successful?

Every student leadership team wants their events to be successful. We’ve identified three key things that make an event successful, and knowing these now will help leaders make better decisions during the planning of any event.

Option 2: Improving My Public Speaking

This workshop suits those who love public speaking, as well as anybody freaked out by it! Most people have heard the basic public speaking tips before, so this workshop takes a deeper look at the preparation and presentation strategies that make the biggest difference.
